A man died after being gunned down in an alley next to a gas station in Lakewood late Wednesday.
He was shot near the Chevron in the 11500 Block of Carson Street at 11:14 p.m, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.
The victim was found in the drivers seat of a car which came to a stop as it headed out of an alley, about to turn onto Nectar Avenue.
Homicide Bureau detectives and gang investigators are investigating the killing. The victim died at the scene, while another person was hospitalized with unknown injuries, but has since been released.
Four people have been detained in connection with the shooting. The motive behind the shooting has yet to be determined and it is unknown if it is gang related.
Nectar Avenue is currently closed between Carson Street and 216th Street while detectives comb the area for evidence.
