Man Sought in Attempted Armed Robbery on Cal State Northridge Campus

A man was being sought Friday after allegedly using a gun to hold up a student in an attempted robbery on the Cal State Northridge campus earlier this week.

At about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, a man riding a bicycle approached a female student walking on Matador Walk toward the student recreation center within the University Student Union, according to a news release by the California State University, Northridge Department of Police Services.

The man allegedly pointed what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun toward the ground and demanded the victim give him money. When the student told him she had no money, the suspect told her not to yell and rode north through the University Student Union, police said.

No property was taken.

The suspect was described as a Caucasian man with a slender build. He was wearing a black baseball cap, sunglasses, black pants and a black pullover hooded sweatshirt with red lettering.

He was riding a black mountain bike.
