Metro Blue Line Passengers Can Expect Delays

Metro Blue Line passengers can expect delays of up to 40 minutes Saturday and Sunday because of construction of the Expo light rail line.

Work will begin at 9 p.m. on the Expo line, an 8.5-mile light rail line from downtown to Culver City and continue until Monday morning, said Jose Ubaldo of Metro Media Relations.

Special Metro bus service will parallel the train route during construction, with bridge service operating every 15 to 20 minutes tonight, every 5 to 10 minutes Saturday and Sunday, and every 15 to 20 minutes after 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Ubaldo said.

Blue Line service is expected to be restored between Washington and 7th Street/Metro Center stations before rush hours Monday, Ubaldo said.

The stations affected are San Pedro, Grand Avenue, Pico/Chick Hearn and 7th/Metro Center, Ubaldo said.

The Expo Line will share tracks and two stations with the Metro Blue Line in the Flower Street area.
