Mild Week to Give Way to Weekend Showers

Temperatures will peak on Thursday, and rain could begin as early as Friday afternoon.

After a breezy start to the week with Monday's temperatures in the mid-50s, a milder, fairly cloudy week can be expected, followed by a 50 percent chance of rain this weekend.

Southeast winds hit 15 mph Monday afternoon across the Los Angeles area, and wind advisories in the mountains and high deserts are in effect through 6 p.m. Monday, as northwest winds reach 25-35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

Patchy fog and low clouds are likely Monday night and Tuesday morning, and partly cloudy forecasts are expected for much of the rest of the week, with highs generally in the 60s and lows in the 40s.

Temperatures around the area will peak Thursday, with highs in the mid-60s along the coast and across the Inland Empire and slightly warmer temperatures in the upper 60s in the valleys.

Rain may begin as early as Friday afternoon, with a 30 percent chance of precipitation that will increase to 50 percent by Saturday morning and continue through the weekend.
