Missing Teen Hikers Found Safe in San Gabriel Mountains

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department rescue crews and one of the hiker's fathers searched through the night

Two missing teenage hikers were found safe in the San Gabriel mountains Tuesday morning.

They went hiking in the Devil's Canyon area at around 9:30 a.m. Monday but never made it home at the allotted time that afternoon. The mother of one of the 17-year-old boys reported them missing later that evening.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department rescue crews and one of the hiker's fathers searched through the night to find the teens. They were eventually found uninjured just before 5:30 a.m.

Rescue crews used a helicopter to hoist the teens out of the rugged area, an LASD spokesman said.

Additional information was not imediately available.
