Another Storm on the Way: Another round of severe weather is moving into Southern California. Evacuations remain in place and LA County fire officials say "a significant mudflow and debris flow is likely today." Full Story

Power Outages in Brentwood, Koreatown: Utility crews were working early today to restore  power to about 3,000 customers in Brentwood and Koreatown, according to the  Department of Water and Power. The storm-related outage estimate at 4 a.m. was down from about 5,000  residences and businesses that were without electricity late Wednesday, said  utility spokeswoman Maychelle Yee. Full Story

USC v. USC in Court: A federal appeals court panel upheld a decision to recognize the University of Southern California's century-old claim to the USC logo. The three-judge panel on Tuesday rejected a petition from the University of South Carolina to use the letters on baseball team clothing for the school's Fighting Gamecocks. Full Story

Arrest in Slaying at Senior Housing Complex:
Authorities have arrested a man they say killed his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend at a senior citizen housing complex in Monterey Park. Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. David Dolson says 45-year-old Richard Tauch of Corona was arrested Wednesday in the suburb east of Los Angeles. He remains jailed Thursday on $1 million bail.

Huntington Beach Bans Beer Pong: News businesses in Huntington Beach won't be allowed to offer beer pong as an entertainment option. LA Times

Two Found Dead in Rialto Plane Crash:
The Federal Aviation Administration says two people have been found dead in the wreckage of a plane that went missing earlier this week. FAA Operations Officer Diana Joubert says the twin-engine Cessna 340 was found Thursday morning in the San Bernardino County foothills about five miles from the Rialto Municipal Airport. Full Story

Fire Destroys Hemet Business, Spares Theater: A fire has destroyed several businesses in the Riverside County city of Hemet, but a nearby historic theater has been spared. Flames broke out Wednesday afternoon, tore through at least three businesses and came within inches of the Historic Hemet Theatre, but the 89-year-old structure was not damaged.

Geimer's Attorney Supports Sentence in Absentia for Polanski: The attorney for the victim in Roman Polanski's 32-year-old sex case on Wednesday joined his lawyers' bid to have the director sentenced in absentia. On behalf of the victim, Samantha Geimer, attorney Lawrence Silver supported another motion by Polanski's lawyers urging he be sentenced to time served. He faxed to lawyers in the case a motion he planned to file Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, which was closed Wednesday. Full Story

NTSB: Metrolink Train Ran Red Light: An NTSB investigation says the Metrolink train involved in a 2008 crash in Chatsworth ran a red light and that the crash would not have occurred if the engineer had stopped. LA Times
