Mother of Eight Wins the Lottery

For a mother of seven children and another one on the way, a $1 lottery ticked proved to be the gift that keeps on giving.

Lottery officials announced on Friday that Mirna Velasco won the lottery. Her ticket matched five of the six numbers winning her a prize of nearly a half million dollars, according to the Daily Press.

Velasco stopped by the CVS Pharmacy near Hesperia and Bear Valley roads to pick up some extra groceries for a holiday party for her mother, fiancé and children. She also purchased a single $1 MEGA Millions lottery ticket. Good thing she did. It turned out to be worth $477,101.

It's been a good week for winners. Earlier this week, John Estrada, a semi retired security guard won the $7 million SuperLotto Plus jackpot after picking the winning numbers 8, 19, 20, 21, 41 and mega number 3.
