Is it the weekend, yet? Not quite, but here's another reason to start making plans -- it's an entrance fee-free day in honor of the National Park Service system's 103rd anniversary.

Gunman Opens Fire on Officers at a Stoplight

A gunman was shot and killed by police after he ambushed officers at a stoplight late Sunday in the El Sereno area of Los Angeles. Two officers in a patrol car were stopped at a traffic light when they were fired on by a man armed with handgun who was standing on a corner at the intersection, police said. We have updates here.
