Nearly a Dozen Car Windows Shattered in Chatsworth Neighborhood

Windows of nearly a dozen cars were shattered in a string of vandalism cases overnight in Chatsworth, police said.

After alerting police, an NBC4 viewer called the newsroom early Sunday morning to report that a row of parked cars, including hers, had their windows shot out just after midnight.

When officers arrived, they found at least 9 different vehicles with windows shattered, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Lisa Ortiz was one of the residents to have her car vandalized.

"When we came out we saw all the cars just shot up," Ortiz said. According to Ortiz, while the neighborhood gets a lot of traffic, it is generally pretty quiet.

The incident concerned Ortiz, and she hoped it would not happen again in the future. Another resident in the area said he used his car for work, and that the vandalism would affect his livelihood.

Officials are investigating to find out how many vehicles were affected. They are also looking for homes or nearby businesses that may have surveillance cameras.

LAPD believes a BB or pellet gun was likely used to break the windows.
