Three people escaped serious injury when a commuter bus collided with a car in Pasadena, sending the bus into a tree and an apartment building wall.
Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian says a Nissan Maxima and a Commuter Express bus, operated by the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, collided Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at Madison Avenue and Cordova Street.
The bus then jumped the curb, struck a tree and came to rest on the apartment patio wall.

Derderian says the female driver of the Nissan told investigators she looked up and thought she was clear when she drove into the intersection and was hit by the bus. She was taken to a hospital with injuries described as minor to moderate.
Firefighters used an emergency escape window to get the bus driver and a lone passenger out of the bus, which has major front-end damage. The bus driver complained of minor injuries.
