It's a car show with a cause and some judges who know what's important when it comes to automobiles.
The first Pageant of Automobiles is scheduled for Saturday at the OC Pavilion in Santa Ana. The event is a celebration of Orange County car culture featuring more than 100 vintage cars.
Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from admission will go to the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and the Next Up Youth Foundation.
It's not a competitive event, but the cars will be informally judged by children from the charity. And nobody knows better than kids when it comes to determining what's cool about a car -- forget heated seats, cupholders and reasonable monthly insurance payments.
“I think it’s going to be fantastic,” event co-organizer Robert Escalante told OC Local News Network. "What’s important about this event is that it’s the first time that a group of people have come together and created a pageant of automobiles for all the automotive culture in Orange County."
Among the vehicles on display will be Al Capone's 1930 Cadillac V-16 and the Batmobile from "Batman Returns." Escalante said visitors can expect to see everything OC collectors have to offer.
