Girl Sideswiped in OC Crosswalk; Brother Drags Her From Street

Police search for driver in hit-and-run collision

A brother dragged his sister to safety after a car allegedly ran a red light and sideswiped the 9-year-old girl in a crosswalk in Orange, according to police.

The collision happened around 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Collins Avenue and Glassell Street in Orange.

The girl and her 10-year-old brother were crossing the street, and made it about 5 feet into the intersection when she was hit.

The impact was strong enough to shatter the passenger-side window of the vehicle, sending glass into the girl's face. She was knocked to the ground, and her brother dragged her out of the street.

The girl was hospitalized in stable condition with bruises and cuts to her face, according to police.

Early reports indicated the vehicle was a Ford Mustang. By late afternoon, police were describing the vehicle as just a dark sedan with obvious collision damage to the passenger side.
