Minivan and SUV Collide in Hawthorne, Leaving One Dead, Four Injured

Emergency responders found one person dead at the scene of a two-vehicle collision at a major intersection just south of the 105 Freeway, authorities said.

Four others were injured in the Hawthorne crash when an SUV hit a minivan at the intersection of El Segundo and Crenshaw boulevards at about 3:30 a.m., said a Los Angeles County Fire Department supervisor.

One of the three minivan passengers died, Hawthorne police said.

The SUV, carrying two people, rear-ended the minivan which was stopped at the intersection, police said. It was unclear if alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash.
