Topanga Canyon is Down to One Lane Starting Monday

Motorists are being advised to seek alternative routes

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane, with one-way traffic control, on Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Topanga beginning Monday as crews undertake a slope stabilization project.

The southbound lane of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, also known as state Route 27, will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday between Grand View Drive and Pacific Coast Highway for a construction assessment and environmental survey, according to Caltrans.

Several mud and rock slides have occurred in that area in recent months and have prompted full closures of the canyon road linking Pacific Coast Highway with the San Fernando Valley.

All work is weather permitting, but motorists should expect delays and use another route if possible.
