Cameras Capture Damaging Valentine’s Day Flood at Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

The Feb. 14 storm unleashed downpours across Southern California

Nature's force was captured on camera when a flash flood that damaged the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway rushed down a canyon.

The Tramway has been closed for repairs since Feb. 14, when downpours led to flooding that carried debris down a nearby hillside. The Valentine's Day storm caused extensive damage throughout Riverside County.

The aerial tram car carries passengers about 2.5 miles over Chino Canyon, about 115 miles east of Los Angeles. The 10-minute ride brings riders to Mt. San Jacinto State park and an elevation of 8,500 feet, during which the car rotates for 360-degree views.

It is expected to reopen April 1.
