Pamela Geller entered the spotlight this week when a "Muhammad Art Exhibit" she hosted ended with police opening fire on two gunman outside the building in a Dallas suburb.
But the 56-year-old blogger and president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative has grabbed headlines before because of her views on Islam.
In 2010, She voiced opposition to buidling an Islamic community center near the former World Trade Center site. Geller also has been involved in lawsuits across the U.S. in recent years, many of them related to her attempts to display incendiary ads in public transit systems.
As the controversies grew, she amassed more than 140,000 followers on Facebook. This graphic shows a breakdown of Pamela Geller's Facebook following.
Geller's Facebook fans can be found in India, the United Kingdom, Israel, Canada and Australia, but the majority are in the United States -- 67 percent -- with the highest concentrations in Los Angeles, Houston, New York, Chicago and Dallas, according to data from Vocativ. Facebook users who say they work in management and health fields count for a large number of followers, as do veterans and active service members.
