Two Altadena Schools to Close

Dozens of Parents Urge Reconsideration at Emotional Tuesday Night Meeting

Pasadena Unified School District Officials made it official Tuesday night. A budget cutting process that has been in the works for three months will result in the closings of two elementary schools, both in Altadena.

Despite objections from dozens of parents, the school board voted to close Burbank and Loma Alta Elementary Schools.

The decision was very unpopular in the neighborhoods those schools serve. The District is promising to make good schools available to the students who will be displaced at the end of the current school year. The process for determining the new schools is expected to begin in a few months.
