Lanes on 5 Freeway Reopened After Pedestrian Struck

All lanes but one were shut down on the 5 Freeway in the Castaic area Monday night causing a major traffic jam after a pedestrian was struck by a car and killed.

The crash was reported about 8:35 p.m. on the northbound side of the freeway north of Lake Hughes Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

All lanes were reopened as of 12:51 a.m. Tuesday, according to the CHP.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

All northbound lanes were closed at Lake Hughes Road after the crash.

The CHP later opened a single lane, while three remained closed.
