The scene in downtown Ventura Wednesday morning is that of a movie scene. The smoke is still thick; the ash are still falling like snow. Businesses remain closed, and the hills smolder in the morning light. Father Juniper Serra’s statue looks over California & Main, a guardian for the city. People are regaining power, and roads are starting to clear. Many residents have already returned while some stay far away in fear of these hot spots flaring up again.
