Years-Long Parking Feud Led to Neighbor's Molotov Cocktail Attack, Police Say

The feud started with a problem over parking in the neighbors' congested neighborhood, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Betagna.

A feud between neighbors that started two years ago erupted into an arson attack and an arrest of a suspect, Santa Ana police reported.

Danny Ray Noriega, 61, of Santa Ana, was booked Wednesday on suspicion of arson. He was being held on $220,000 bail, according to jail records.

Noriega was scheduled to appear in the jail courtroom Friday on two misdemeanor counts of possession of drugs and paraphernalia, according to court records.

The feud started with a problem over parking in the neighbors' congested neighborhood, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Betagna.

Police and firefighters were called to the 2700 block of West Maywood Avenue Saturday when the victim said he heard a loud noise, looked out his window and spotted a small blaze on his property that he doused with a water hose, police said.

After a review of his surveillance video the resident said Noriega threw a Molotov cocktail-type object over the fence and rode away on a bike, Bertagna said.
