Police Chase With SUV Comes to Crashing End in Huntington Park

A man in a silver Lincoln Navigator SUV with Georgia license plates suspected of running a red light in South Los Angeles led authorities on a high-speed chase tonight through four cities that ended when he crashed into three vehicles in Huntington Park.

The pursuit began at 9:52 p.m. at Gage Avenue and Miramonte Boulevard where California Highway Patrol officers said the suspect ran a red light, according to CHP Officer Patrick Kimball. The CHP patrols unincorporated areas near South Los Angeles.

The driver of an SUV sped along South Los Angeles streets Friday in a police pursuit before crashing into parked cars and spinning out.

The impact of the crash was so severe, the SUV's rear, driver's side tires broke off and ended up on the sidewalk.

The driver remained in the vehicle for about 15 minutes before officers used less-than-lethal rounds to break the rear, driver's side window and the man climbed out and surrendered.

It was unclear if anyone involved in the crash was seriously injured.
