OC Police Making Teen Nightlife More Boring Than Ever

Curfews in Orange County start between 10pm and 11pm depending on the city

For teens, going out in Orange County became a lot less fun. A countywide sweep by dozens of law enforcement agencies nabbed 67 minors who violated the county's curfew.

The Orange County District Attorney's office said the sweep was intended to steer teens away from participating in gangs or becoming victims of gang violence, according to the LA Times.

The captured were taken to several police headquarters and put on jail buses until parents arrived to pick them up. In an effort to 'scare them straight,' they were shown photos of young men who had been killed in after hours violence, the Times said.

Officials created the curfew out of concern that a growing number of juveniles were being arrested on drug and violent-crime charges.

Curfew hours run between 10pm and 11pm depending on the city and last until 5am. Minors 17 and under are only allowed out in public if they are accompanied by an adult or qualify for an exemption.
