The price of gasoline continues a significant downward slide, dropping five cents over the past week to an average of $3.72 to per gallon in Los Angeles County.
The drop - about 14 cents over the past month - could take some of the bite out of holiday automobile travel if it holds. But prices are still 58 cents higher than they were at this time last year.
And a recent survey by the Southern California Automobile Club found that while many people will be traveling anyway, those who are staying home are doing so mostly because of gas prices.
