Dreams were coming true for high school senior girls who had big aspirations for prom, but not a big budget: 100 girls got to choose from hundreds of dresses in Pasadena Saturday.
"I definitely wanted a long dress," Jennifer Rico said.
For as long as she could remember, she dreamed of wearing pink to the senior prom.
"Every long dress I wanted — they were way too expensive," Rico said.
But then, she found one at the event in the 900 block of Walnut Avenue at the Salvation Army.
It didn't cost her a penny.
"I like the color, like peaches," Rico said.
She is a senior at John Muir high school who works 15 hours a week at Chuck E. Cheese’s pizza restaurant. The money she makes is to help her mom.

On Saturday, 25 volunteers helped Rico and 100 girls pick out prom dresses as well as earrings and heels.
"I feel thankful for the people that did this," Rico said.
The Salvation Army in Pasadena partnered with the Pasadena Unified School District to help make the girls’ big night extra special.
"Some of the girls come in not having something in mind. They come out with a great smile on their faces," Jhoana Hirasuna of the Salvation Army said.
