Deputies kept watch Tuesday night in Villa Park as free speech proponents by the hundreds rallied at City Hall, reacting to comments made by City Councilwoman Deborah Pauly outside a Muslim charity event last month.
Councilwoman Pauly listened as speakers alternately blasted her or sang her praises, about a video they saw on YouTube, newspaper websites and even Al Jazeera television.
"I know quite a few marines who will be very happy to help these terrorists to an early meeting in paradise," said Councilwoman Deborah Pauly at a rally during an Islamic Circle of North America fund-raiser Feb. 13th.

Pauly has not backed down from those remarks.
Last week the Villa Park Council did act.
"Reinforcing folks right to free speech, including the rights of elected officials to free speech, so no action tonight," states Lori Sassoon, Villa Park City Manager on Tuesday night.
Tuesday night Protesters said they don't condone violence, just the exchange of ideas.
