Driver Surrenders After Short Pursuit

The pursuit ended when police spun out the driver of the truck

A driver who led police on Southern California freeways and surface streets surrendered to police after a short pursuit Friday night.

The pursuit began about 11 p.m. on the westbound 10 Freeway near Mission Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A group of police cars chased a silver, four-door pickup truck as it led them on surface streets and freeways through Pasadena into Altadena.

Aerial video showed the driver stop at some stop signs and red lights while blowing through other intersections as police cars followed.

Officers got out of their patrol cars with their guns drawn at one point before the truck sped away.

Just before 11:30 p.m., police execute a PIT maneuver and spun out the truck. The front ends of both the truck and the patrol car were facing each other, and the patrol car could be seen pushing the truck backward.

The truck driver then opened his door and got on the ground, surrendering to police as they took him into custody.
