Driver in Custody After Pursuit From OC to Bakersfield

The driver of a compact car was taken into custody after leading California Highway Patrol officers in a high-speed pursuit from Orange County to the Bakersfield area Monday night.

The chase began near Seal Beach and reached speeds of more than 100 mph as it made its way on the 405 Freeway into the San Fernando Valley, then onto the 5 Freeway past the Santa Clarita Valley.

The driver then took the 99 Freeway, which leads to Bakesfield. Officers used a spike strip to stop the car. The driver was the sole occupant of the car.
