National Football League owners will hold a special meeting in Chicago Tuesday to get an update on proposals to relocate one or more teams to the Los Angeles area, although no decisions will be made.
The owners are expected to hear presentations about St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke's planned stadium project at the former Hollywood Park racetrack in Inglewood, and a proposal for a Carson stadium that could be shared by the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders.
The presentations are expected to focus on the progress made on the various stadium proposals, costs, financing plans and stadium design. They will also hear updates on efforts being made in Oakland, St. Louis and San Diego to keep the teams from moving.
Officials in San Diego on Monday released a 6,000-page environmental impact report on a proposal for a replacement for Qualcomm Stadium in Mission Valley. A proposed financing package was also released that would see the city and county paying about $350 million toward the effort.
A San Diego city/county negotiating team also met with a small group of NFL owners to discuss its proposal.
The Los Angeles area has not had an NFL franchise since the Rams and Raiders left after the 1994 season.
