Dog Saved From Traffic on 710 Freeway Reunites With Owner

A dog that was rescued from rush hour traffic on the 710 Freeway last week has been reunited with its owner after being briefly put up for adoption.

The pit bull mix named Snow and her owner, Rigoberto Gaspar, were back together Wednesday after friends told him about NBC4’s story that she was up for adoption at the Downey animal shelter.

Gaspar said he had been searching shelters for Snow.

NewsChopper4 captured aerial footage Thursday as Good Samaritan Andie Valero ran down to the freeway to rescue the 3- to 4-year-old dog.

"Just to save the dog, I didn't want her to get hurt," Valerio said of what she was thinking when she got out of her car to rescue the exhausted pup.

Animal control had hoped the dog’s owner would claim her after seeing news coverage, but no owner immediately came forward.

The Southeast Area Animal Control Authority said the pup was doing well.
