Police were asking for the public's help in identifying a man who sexually assaulted a woman at knifepoint in a Reseda alley.
The 18-year-old woman, a student, was taking a shortcut home through an alley near Victory Boulevard and Corbin Street the night of March 27 when she heard the sound of a folding knife opening and felt someone grab her, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The man held her against the wall with a knife to her throat and sexually assaulted her, then ran off.
"The young victim went home, feeling scared and ashamed, but uninjured. She did not tell anyone what happened for several weeks," the LAPD said in a news release.
A family member convinced the woman to came forward to police.
Detectives released a sketch Wednesday in hopes someone could identify the attacker. They are also searching for surveillance video.
The man was described the man as about 26 years old, with a medium height and build.
