An early morning 3.1-magnitude earthquake rattled southern Riverside County Tuesday -- the third quake of greater than magnitude-3.0 in the past two days in the region.
The 1:21 a.m. quake was centered about 16 miles southwest of Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage. Shaking was reported in those communities, Riverside, Upland and Palm Springs.
There were no reports of significant damage.

The earthquake followed two earthquakes Monday in the region with magnitudes of 3.7 and 3.3.
The magnitude-3.7 quake was reported at about 4 p.m. in the San Jacinto Mountains community of Idyllwild, about 100 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. Monday's magnitude-3.3 earthquake, reported at about 10:30 a.m., was centered near Borrego Springs, about 150 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
