A 44-year-old man suspected of intentionally running over and killing his girlfriend on a Nuevo street, and injuring the victim's mother when she tried to intervene, was being held in lieu of $1 million Thursday.

Bun Thieng Leuk was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of murder and assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's officials said Leuk was involved in a dispute with Linda Holguin while she stood with her children and mother, Frances Rios, outside her home in the 29000 block of 13th Street about 5 p.m. Monday.

While at the wheel of his Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, Leuk allegedly threw the vehicle into gear and aimed it at Holguin, according to witnesses.

Rios alleged in an interview with NBC4 that the suspect ran over her daughter several times, and when the older woman tried to come to her daughter's aid, he struck her, too.

Sheriff's Sgt. Rick Espinoza said Leuk fled the area before deputies arrived. Holguin was pronounced dead at the scene.
