Rossmoor Residents Briefed on Knife-Attack Investigation

A man repeatedly stabbed a jogger Tuesday night, police said.

An overflow crowd of Rossmoor neighbors Thursday night peppered Orange County Sheriff investigators with questions about a knife-wielding man who slashed a female jogger late Tuesday.

The attacker, who struck on the 3200 block of Bostonian Drive, is described as a thin Latino man in his 20's, wearing dark clothes and a baseball cap. He escaped on a BMX bike, police said.
Residents said they appreciated the update.

"They really went out of their way to make us understand what they were doing, and I'm gonna go home and sleep fine," Dixie Fried said.

"We watch out after each other. So we'll all pull together, and keep our eyes open," said resident Lucy Lyons.

Investigators confirm they've expanded the search area, and have detained a person of interest in the case.

"We're working with our area partners including: Los Alamitos, Cypress, Seal Beach, Long Beach Police Department," said Cpt. Adam Powell, of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
