Man, Baby Injured in Separate Shootings in San Bernardino

The incidents occured in the 1400 block of E. Date Street

A man and a 10-month-old baby were hospitalized with gunshot wounds after being involved in separate shootings in San Bernardino Thursday afternoon, according to police.

The owner of a nearby apartment complex said crimes in the area prompted him to install surveillance cameras, which may have captured the incidents.

The first shooting happened around 2:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of E. Date Street (map), said Lt. Paul Williams with the San Bernardino Police Department.

The adult victim was shot at least once in the back, Williams said. His condition was listed as serious.

Shortly after the man was shot, police said a separate shooting injured a 10-month-old baby blocks away from the first incident. A woman brought the baby to the hospital; she was reportedly uninjured.

The child was shot in the buttocks and was listed in stable condition, Williams said.
