A police officer was injured when his patrol vehicle crashed into an expensive sports car Sunday in Santa Ana, a police corporal said.
The crash occurred about 2 a.m. in the area of Main and Camille streets, said Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
The officer was responding to a pursuit at the time of the crash, Bertagna said. The patrol vehicle struck the motorist's vehicle — a BMW i8 Roadster — and a light pole.
Paramedics took the officer to an area hospital, where his condition was not immediately reported. The motorist was also taken to an area hospital with complaints of pain, he said.
The starting retail price of a 2019 BMW i8 Roadster is $163,300.
