Santa Ana Violent Rape Suspect Sought

Santa Ana police Tuesday asked for the public's help tracking down a suspect in a violent rape Saturday night.

A woman in her 50s was sitting on a bus bench about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at MacArthur Boulevard and Bristol Street when a man physically attacked her before raping her at the bus stop, Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

The suspect, who was wearing a Dallas Cowboys jersey, did not show a weapon in the attack, Bertagna said.

"We've been working the case since Saturday night and we've gone through videos from buses as they pass the bus stop and captured the incident," Bertagna said.

"We want to advise the public about this individual's very violent attack," Bertagna said. "We're also asking them for their help."

The victim worked with police to develop a composite sketch of the suspect. Police also plan to release surveillance video in an effort to give the public a better idea of what the suspect looks like.

Anyone with information was asked to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.
