Breeders' Cup Returning to Santa Anita in 2014

The 2014 edition of the prestigious year-end event will mark its third consecutive year at Santa Anita Park

The Breeders' Cup will return to Santa Anita Park in Arcadia for the 31st edition of thoroughbred racing's prestigious international year-end event in 2014, event officials announced Monday.

The 14-race 2014 Breeders' Cup World Championships are scheduled for Oct. 31 through Nov. 1, marking its third consecutive year at the Southern California track. This year's event is scheduled for Nov. 1 and 2 at Santa Anita Park, which has hosted the event six times.

"Santa Anita has proven to be an outstanding host for our Championships, providing horsemen and fans around the world with a first class facility and one of the greatest experiences in sports," said Craig Fravel, Breeders’ Cup president and CEO.

No decisions have been made on host sites beyond 2014, according to Breeders' Cup officials.

Santa Anita was the site of Breeders' Cup in 1986, 1993, 2003, 2008, 2009  -- the historic event featured Zenyatta, the first female to ever win the Breeders' Cup Classic -- and 2012.

The 2013 and 2014 Breeders’ Cup World Championships will be televised by the NBC Sports Group.
