Saturday Night Fundraiser Set for Cori Daye Desmond

Family and friends to hold memorial at On the Rocks Sports Bar

A fundraiser and memorial for Cori Daye Desmond will be held Saturday night at a Redondo Beach sports bar.

The event starts at 9 p.m. at On the Rocks Sports Bar, 239 North Harbor Drive.  There is a $5 cover charge that goes directly to a memorial fund established to help Desmond’s family with funeral costs.

The body of the 28-year-old Torrance woman, who was last seen alive Sunday, February 15, at the Bac Street Lounge, 2422 Artesia Blvd., Redondo Beach, was discovered stuffed into a bag and dumped on a snowy San Bernardino Mountain road Monday night.

Friday the San Bernardino County Coroner finished their autopsy.  “The autopsy results are not being released,” San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Jodi Miller told The Channel 4 News.   “We have no suspects identified.”   Earlier this week deputies at the scene of the murder said it appeared Desmond had suffered a   blunt-force trauma.

Meanwhile, family and friends continued their third day of handing out fliers in the area where Desmond was last seen.

A memorial fund was established this week to help Desmond’s family cope with the costs associated with burying Cory Daye.  The administrator of the fund is Lori Desmond, Cory Daye’s cousin.  If you wish to help please send your donation to the Cori Daye Desmond Memorial Fund c/o Cal National Bank, 29000 South Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes.  Acct #  5589633720
