Sentence For SoCal Woman Who Drowned Autistic Son

Patricia Corby admitted that she had held her son Daniel under water in the bathtub until he drowned

A Southern California woman who drowned her autistic son in a bathtub has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

Patricia Corby, who lived in the San Diego community of Carmel Valley, turned herself in to police last March, saying that she had held four-year-old Daniel under water until he drowned.

"You are a loathsome person, and you deserve everything you get," the boy's father said at Corby's sentencing hearing, according to a report by the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Investigators said that after the murder Corby drove her son to the police station, flagging down an officer and telling him she'd just killed her son. The officer then saw the body in a blanket in the backseat of Corby's car.

The child was not breathing and medics were unable to save him. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Corby was arrested later that day.
