A 50-acre brush fire that broke out in a burn scar caused by the Skirball Fire and flared east of the San Diego (405) Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass was declared 100% contained Thursday.

The flames were reported about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard, near Getty Center Drive, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

No structures were damaged and no evacuations were ordered. Two firefighters suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at the scene, Humphrey said. No civilian injuries were reported.

More than 200 firefighters and four LAFD water-dropping helicopters were involved in the initial firefighting effort that included Los Angeles County Fire Department crews and a county fire water-dropping helicopter.

About 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, authorities announced that the progress of the fire had been stopped. Personnel remained on scene throughout Wednesday and into Thursday, making sure the fire was completely extinguished.

At 10 a.m. Thursday, the LAFD announced that the fire was "confirmed as 100% contained at an estimated 50 acres with no visible flame remaining."

"The only LAFD operations at the scene today will be crews reclaiming fire hose and other equipment," Humphrey said late Thursday morning.

"We thank neighbors for their patience as we conclude operations, and ask motorists along and near Sepulveda Boulevard at Getty Center Drive to remain attentive and drive carefully as firefighters in the area complete their duties," he said.

The affected fire area included "a mix of burned, un-burned and partially burned vegetation," Margaret Stewart of the LAFD said earlier.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Skirball Fire erupted Dec. 6, 2017, scorched 422 acres over the next 10 days, damaged 12 homes and prompted the evacuation of about 700 homes and an apartment building in the Bel-Air area. Three firefighters were injured in the fire, which was determined to have been caused by an illegal cooking fire at a homeless encampment in a brush area next to the area where Sepulveda Boulevard crosses under the San Diego Freeway.
