Simi Valley Police Make Arrests in Connection to Home Burglaries

Police arrested Pierre Demetrius Hinton, 25, and Charles Raynal Smith, 26, on suspicion of burglarizing a home in the Big Sky community.

On Friday night, Simi Valley Police detectives made two arrests in connection with their investigation into a series of home burglaries.

Pierre Demetrius Hinton, 25, and Charles Raynal Smith, 26, were arrested around 11:30 p.m. Friday night at Tapo Canyon Road and the 118 Freeway, according to a Simi Valley Police police.

Detectives said the two men broke into a home just before the arrest. Police said they saw the men break into a home in the 2200 block of Silverstar Street and followed them.

Property belonging to the resident was found in the suspects' vehicle, the release said.

Simi Valley Police are still looking for other suspects involved in a string of break-ins targeting dark houses with no vehicles parked in the front or driveway, the written statement said. Entry to the targeted house is made by going through a side-gate to the backyard and smashing a slider or window.

Smith and Hinton, whose bails were set at $50,000 and $76,000, respectively, are out on bail and will be arraigned in June, the release said. Police allege that the two are members of an LA street gang.

Police recommend that citizens keep some lights on at night and park their vehicles in the driveway, if possible.
