Six LA Fine Dining Spots Make the List of America’s Best New Restaurants

Los Angeles is known for its fine dining, and some of its new restaurants live up to the expectations. Bon Appétit released its list of top 50 nominees for America's best new restaurants on Tuesday, and six LA-area spots made the list.

The Middle Eastern cuisine at Bavel is "meant to be a feast that everyone at the table joins." The Arts District spot is the second restaurant from LA-born chef couple Ori Menashe and Genevieve Gergis.

According to its website, this Italian fine dining spot combined ingredients from California farms with the talents of chef Evan Funke. However, customers may have to wait a while, as Felix says it only takes reservations that have to be made at least 28 days in advance.
In a May 2018 article for the Los Angeles Times, the late Jonathan Gold praised the Echo Park Jewish deli for making a "spectacle" out of its brisket. As for ordering the bagel tower off the weekend brunch menu, the famed restaurant critic said, "You should only be so lucky."

Famed chef and restaurateur David Chang might be recognized from his Netflix show "Ugly Delicious" among other media ventures, but the menu of his first LA eatery might not be as recognizable on a second visit. It changes daily, the restaurant's website claims.
This upscale, authentic Japanese restaurant opened in Venice last year, bringing a slice of Tokyo to the beach city's food scene.

With Vespertine, chef Jordan Kahn spearheaded an effort "re-imagine and explore the experience of dining", the restaurant's website says. Gold approved of the effort, giving Vespertine the top spot in his 2017 list of 101 best restaurants in LA.
