Slain Driver Identified in School Bus Crash

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. -- Authorities on Tuesday identified a 27-year-old Moreno Valley woman who died when a school bus landed atop her car on the Escondido (215) Expressway.

Nuvia Bermudes was pronounced dead at the scene of the two-vehicle crash on the northbound 215 near the junction with the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, according to the Riverside County coroner's office.

The crash between the school bus -- which was empty of children -- and the 1995 BMW Coupe was reported just before 9 a.m. Monday.

The BMW was in the far left lane, its driver changing lanes to pass traffic, when the car clipped the rear of the bus and both drivers lost control of the vehicles, which slammed into the center divider, CHP Officer Sylvia Mosley said.

The yellow school bus overturned and came to rest on its wheels in the median -- on top of the BMW, according to the CHP.

Mosley had no information on the school district or route served by the bus.
