A single-engine aircraft crashed Thursday just south of the Santa Monica Pier, killing a passenger.
The pilot survived the Cessna 150 crash after being freed from the wreckage.
The plane flipped over after landing about 3:15 p.m., according to FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.
“The pilot reported engine issues after departing from Santa Monica Airport,” said Gregor, adding that the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
