SoCal Fog Warning

Weekend begins in foggy haze

The National Weather Service Friday night issued a dense fog advisory for "coastal areas" stretching from Santa Barbara, along the Los Angeles coast and down to Orange County.

San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino counties were not under the advisory.

The Weather Service reported "dense fog will affect the coastal areas of southwestern California tonight (Friday) and into Saturday morning with visibilities reduced to one quarter mile or less at times.

"By mid morning Saturday...the fog should lift with improving visibilities.  Dense fog advisory in effect until 9 a.m. Saturday.

"Area of dense fog with visibility one quarter mile or less can be expected mainly along the immediate coast from Malinu to Rancho Palos Verdes.

"Travel along Highway 1 and Interstate 405 near the coast will be affected by the dense fog...," warned the Weather Service advisory.

According to the Los Angeles Airport website flights were taking off and landing on time despite the fog.
