Driver of Possibly Stolen Car Surrenders After Chase Through South Los Angeles

A stolen vehicle suspect was blasted by police with a bean bag round and taken into custody at the end of an approximately 20- minute car chase Tuesday night in South Los Angeles.

The chase began about 8:40 p.m. in the area of Manchester and McKinley avenues, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

The chase ended about 9 p.m. outside a gas station near the intersection of Avalon Boulevard and Colden Avenue, where bean bag rounds were shot at the vehicle, shattering its windows. One round was fired at the man, who was struck and surrendered. 

The man's name and age were not immediately available.
