Wienerschnitzel Burglary Suspect Caught in South El Monte After Pursuit and Carjacking

Deputies pursued the suspect after seeing him flee from a Wienerschnitzel at South Street and Jersey Ave in Lakewood, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

A suspected hot dog restaurant burglar was arrested after allegedly carjacking someone and leading law enforcement officers on a chase that ended in South El Monte Thursday.

Deputies pursued the driver after seeing him flee from a Wienerschnitzel at South Street and Jersey Avenue in Lakewood at around 1:47 a.m, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

At times, they went into surveillance mode with an Los Angeles Sheriff's Department helicopter overhead. 

The driver then allegedly carjacked a victim near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Eastern Avenue  in the City Of Commerce area. He fled through several cities, and was pursued by the air unit and patrol cars, with CHP then taking over the pursuit. 

The chase, which lasted 20 minutes, ended when the subject lost control of his vehicle after getting a flat tire near the intersection of Rosemead Boulevard and Rush Avenue in the South El Monte area.
