Police Pursuit Ends in Beverly Hills Takedown

A reckless pursuit driver leading police on a chase through Hollywood struck a tree, and ran from the SUV into a Beverly Hills neighborhood where he was taken down by police Wednesday night.

Police began pursuing a blacked-out SUV in the Hollywood area at 10:40 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station said.

The driver was wanted for driving recklessly, police said.

The driver  sped past the Beverly Center amid mild traffic, cruising over the center median at times to elude authorities.

The driver of the blacked-out Mercedes-Benz SUV struck a tree and ran from the vehicle, leading police to chase the driver on foot.

The driver spent several minutes scurrying through bushes and through yards before the LAPD took him into custody.
