Driver of Cadillac Escalade Crashes Into Furniture Store at End of Pursuit

A man in the luxury SUV ran into a nearby residence after the Fullerton crash

Two people were arrested and a furniture store was damaged after the driver of a Cadillac Escalade crashed into the building at the end of an Orange County pursuit.

The pursuit began in Anaheim after officers noticed the driver was speeding in a residential area north of the 91 Freeway, said Lt. Bob Dunn, of the Anaheim Police Department. The driver failed to pull over when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

"It took off at a high rate of speed," said Dunn.

The crash occurred at the corner of Harbor Boulevard and Valencia Avenue. The stolen luxury sport utility vehicle slammed through a brick wall and scattered debris throughout Allen Discount Furniture after striking items in the showroom.

The driver and a juvenile female in the vehicle were taken into custody. The female was apprehended after coming out of the damaged building, but the driver ran to a nearby home, Dunn said.

Witnesses who were at the crash site returned home to find the man in their residence, Dunn said. The residents reported the subject's location to officers, who took the man into custody.

No serious injuries were reported.

The store, which has been in business for about three decades, will remain closed Tuesday as workers clear debris.
