Some Cars Get More Speeding Tickets

A research company examined several models of vehicles and how likely they were to get ticketed

The next time you get pulled over for a speeding ticket, you might blame your car.

A new study says the model of car you drive may get you more tickets, and it's not always red or a sports car.

Quality Planning, an insurance research company, examined several makes and models of vehicles and how likely they were to get ticketed by law enforcement over the course of 100,000 miles.

The top of the list? Not a Ferrari, Mustang, or Corvette. You might as well get your checkbook out now if you drive a Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. The car was number one on Quality's "Spirited Vehicle" list, the cars with the highest percentage of violations. Benz SL drivers had four times the number of violations than the average, the firm wrote.

Cars designed for Gen 'Y'ers those by foreign manufacturers rated high on the list. Two Toyota Scion models made the list, the TC and XB as did the Volkswagon GTI.

So what if you want to avoid a ticket? What do you drive?  SUV's and minivans were at the other end of the violations spectrum, according to Quality.

Referred to as "Cautious Vehicles," Quality suggests people drive these more carefully since they often tend to carry young children.  Topping the "Cautious" list were the Buick Rainer, Mazda Tribute, Chevy Pickup, and the Kia Spectra.
